1. What is the purpose of your business?
2. Do you truly understand the true value of your product or service?
3. Can your goals be broken down into more specific ones?
4. So which of those goals should be met 1st?
5. Are you focusing on it?
6. What are your Future Plans/Goals? (e.g. 3-year plan)
I have done quite a fair bit of research before deriving with these valuable questions.
These questions, generally are what entrepreneurs should be asking themselves while setting up their businesses. Of course it includes questions like, ‘how would you earn your 1st dollar?’ ‘From whom?’ Etc. But if I’m gonna be that specific, I would be telling you how to make a business plan which is not what I want to cover in this entry. Let’s just stick with the goal/purpose of today’s topic.
Whenever we talk about growing a business/effective marketing, we have to also talk about goals/purposes. Most marketers like most people foolishly play blind archery. Archery is tough enough. Why make it more difficult? The first step in the marketing process is to clarify what you want to accomplish. Many businesses ultimately fail because their marketing objectives are too shallow. Other words, if your only objective is a certain level of sales volume and income, you’re building your business on shifting sand rather than a solid foundation.
This could simply summarise why 90% of businesses fail. It’s the fact that people are all driven by greed and fear (blindness), jumping on the bandwagon without a solid goals/purpose, later result in losing the game.
What is FEAR? False Evidence Appearing Real! They ultimately withdraw themselves from the game because they don’t know how to play, they are blinded from the evidences which tell them the business could eventually prosper. They just failed a million dollar idea without knowing!
I love board games. If you’ve tried board games, they could be very easy if you know the rules and practice a lot. You start developing your own strategies which determines how good you are at it. There are people who are just so good at them. This proves a wonderful thing! There’s a certain way to see business. There’s a certain mindset you need to attain to become good at it!
So what is the wonderful thing?! Some people might not get it still.
Well it is that anyone can do it if they seek this certain way - by practicing! I would say there’s no perfect strategy but you need to attain a mindset so that strategies that come out from you WORK.
Marketing is about knowing what works and what doesn’t. Yes, like art it could be subjective. Whatever it is, to me, as long as your marketing strategies pleases the majority/the market, they are working good. So what strategies have you used that have generated more profits for you? Business is all about profits. If you’ve never done it, check and see if your strategies are helping/sabotaging your business.
I don’t think there’s a need for me to go through each question that I’ve stated above. I believe it’ll help if you would spend some time thinking about it.
Ask yourself the above questions (1-6); see if they make sense to you?
If it does, here’s a simple test I found in my research:
[To test how focus/clear you might be try asking yourself those questions and giving the answers in ten words or less. Do you feel clear about your response or do you feel confused? The next time you get the opportunity to ask the question of someone else watch carefully how he or she answers the question. Do you need to sit down and take a break after their long-winded explanation or do you get it immediately? It’s obvious to me now that if you need a whiteboard, a PowerPoint presentation and forty-five minutes to sell your product/service you’re in deep trouble.]
You got to figure your purpose for building this business.
You got to set goals accordingly to fulfill that purpose.
You got to understand the real value of your products/services.
You got to know where you’re going.
You have to be focus!! (* #1 problem when businesses fail when lacking it. I would be tapping on the topic on focus in future.)
